Gregory Touhill, former federal chief information security officer, has joined the board of directors of cybersecurity software provider Bay Dynamics.

Bay Dynamics said Tuesday Touhill will support the company’s efforts to implement a risk-based cybersecurity approach for commercial and government customers.

He has served as president of Cyxtera Technologies‘ federal business group since July.

Touhill became the first-ever federal CISO in September 2016 and led national cybersecurity initiatives as well as federal government cybersecurity strategy, policy, standards and oversight.

His public-sector career also includes roles as deputy assistant secretary for cybersecurity and communications at the Department of Homeland Security as well as chief information officer and director of C4 systems at the U.S. Transportation Command.

He served in the U.S. Air Force for more than 30 years and retired with the rank of brigadier general.
