Tempus Applied Solutions has signed a definitive agreement to buy six Lockheed Martin-built L-1011 aircraft units that were previously owned and operated by the British air force.
Four aircraft are configured for air-to-air refueling operations while the other two are designed to carry passengers and cargo, Tempus said Aug. 14.
Tempus will finance the deal using approximately 6,730,769 common shares worth $0.52 per share and close the acquisition after inspecting the aircraft, associated log books and support equipment.
The L-1011s retired in 2014 after 30 years of service and were kept in “flyable” storage in the U.K. since.
Tempus plans to market three of the air-to-air refueling aircraft for contractor-owned/operated AAR operations, with a focus on the U.S. Navy, NATO and other allied air forces that need hose and drogue AAR services.
The rest of the L-1011s will be used for spare parts.
The aircraft are registered in U.S. and will be transported from the UK to a Tempus base of operations in the continental U.S. following acceptance and required maintenance.
