Vencore to Continue Work on Nuclear Detection Platform Under Air Force Follow-On Order - top government contractors - best government contracting eventVencore has received a potential $6.4 million task order from the U.S. Air Force to continue to provide scientific and analytical support services for the service branch’s technical applications center.

The company said Wednesday it will carry out work in Melbourne, Florida, under the follow-on order to support the development of AFTAC’s modular optimized operations system designed to replace a nuclear detonation detection platform.

AFTAC runs and maintains the U.S. Atomic Energy Detection System designed to detect nuclear events and provides agencies technical measurements to track nuclear treaty compliance.

Vencore has supported AFTAC’s nuclear detection readiness efforts since 2011 under a potential six-year, $36.5 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract awarded to QinetiQ North America, which Vencore acquired in 2014 prior to its rebranding effort.
