The government of Australia plans to invest $39.8 million over seven years to help fund the establishment of an industry-led center for cybersecurity research efforts.
Australia’s Department of Industry, Innovation and Science said Friday the future cybersecurity cooperative research center will also receive more than $70 million from 25 government, research and private sector organizations.
Craig Laundy, Australian assistant minister for industry, innovation and science, said CSC will be established to develop technology platforms that will work to secure critical infrastructure as well as consumers and businesses that conduct online transactions.
Laundy added center will aim to develop frameworks, approaches and products designed to support information and communication technology systems that run on multiple platforms and operating systems.
This initiative is part of the Australian government’s Cyber Security Strategy and will collaborate with the Australian Cyber Security Growth Network.
