A joint venture of Kratos Defense and Security SolutionsDigital Fusion Solutions subsidiary and Vencore has received a task order to help the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command design a laser system for target acquisition, tracking and engagement.

QWK Integrated Solutions will support design work on the Army’s future High Energy Laser Tactical Vehicle Demonstrator system under the four-phase task order, Kratos said Friday.

Work will occur in Huntsville, Alabama, and will also include system integration and platform systems support.

The order was awarded through the potential $3 billion Design, Development, Demonstration and Integration contract vehicle jointly managed by SMDC and the Army Forces Strategic Command.

Vencore said Wednesday QWK would compete for task orders under the D3I contract’s capability development, operations and materiel development categories.
