Stephen Doran, director of operations and transformation at Raytheon‘s U.K. arm, has been appointed as CEO of Compound Semiconductor Applications Catapult — a research and development facility backed by the U.K. government.

CSA Catapult said Thursday Doran will lead the organization’s efforts to help U.K. businesses exploit emerging compound semiconductor technologies.

“[Doran’s] experience will help the Catapult to identify and develop a range of services designed to help [small and medium-sized enterprises] and larger industry players bring new compound semiconductor based products to commercial reality,” said Kevin Crofton, chairman of CSA Catapult.

Doran has worked at Raytheon since 2013 and previously served as chief operating officer and vice president of product management at semiconductor manufacturing company Wolfson Microelectronics.

He also held various leadership roles at Motorola such as senior director of business operations and portfolio; senior business operations director; product marketing director; and European product and proposition director, among others.

British innovation agency Innovate UK established CSA Catapult as a multiple technology innovation center to support the country’s employment and economic growth efforts.
