Sarcos Robotics has appointed George Casey Jr., a retired U.S. Army general, to the board of advisers at the Salt Lake City-based robotic system manufacturing company.

The 41-year military veteran joins Sarcos’ advisory board as the company aims to market robotic platforms in the defense sector, the company said Monday.

Casey served as the Army chief of staff from 2007 to 2011 and commander of a multinational force based in Iraq from July 2004 to February 2007.

He was also deployed to various operational assignments in the U.S., Germany, Italy, Egypt, Iraq and the Balkans.n International Relations from Denver University.

He also previously served as an Atlantic Council of the United States senior fellow.
