Boeing Taps Austest Laboratories to Help Assess Equipment for Australia's Comms System - top government contractors - best government contracting eventBoeing has selected Austest Laboratories to help evaluate the strength and durability of equipment used for Australia’s battlespace military communication system, Defence Connect reported Monday.

Austest Laboratories will help assess the Project Currawong battlespace communication system designed to offer wideband voice, data and video services across wireless and wired infrastructure for deployed forces and land-based personnel worldwide.

“The Currawong battlespace communications system is designed, developed and built by Australians for the [Australian Defense Force], so our decision to select Australian-based Austest Laboratories for environmental testing represents our continued support of local suppliers,” said Lee Davis, Currawong program director at Boeing.

The report noted that Austest Laboratories will also subject Currawong equipment through environmental simulations, electromagnetic compatibility and electromagnetic interference tests to evaluate the system’s compliance with military standards.

ADF expects Currawong to achieve initial operational capability in 2018 and the final operational capability in 2020.
