Latvia State Border Guard Orders Leonardo-Built Multipurpose Helicopters - top government contractors - best government contracting eventLeonardo has received a contract of an undisclosed value to supply two AW119Kx helicopters to Latvia’s state border guard.

The contract has an option for an additional helicopter and related aircrew or maintenance technician training services, Leonardo said Tuesday.

Leonardo is scheduled to deliver the initial AW119Kx units from a company facility in  Philadelphia is expected to deliver sometime in 2019.

Latvia’s state border guard intends to use the new helicopters as replacements for two AB206B JetRangers that were built to support disaster relief, search and rescue, firefighting and transport operations.

The government of Latvia chose the AW119Kx platform after an assessment based on a framework provided by the country’s interior ministry.

AW119Kx will join the guard squadron’s AW109 Power multimission helicopters.
