Lockheed Puts Miniature Hit-to-Kill Missile Through Flight Test - top government contractors - best government contracting eventLockheed Martin has completed a controlled flight test of its Miniature Hit-to-Kill missile at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico to validate the weapon’s agility, airframe and electronics.

The Lockheed-funded demonstration on Friday marked the first test for MHTK’s updated electronics and the second for the missile’s new airframe, the company said Tuesday.

MHTK comes in two versions — one with an active seeker and another with a semi-active seeker — and the interceptor works to disrupt rocket, artillery and mortar targets.

The missile’s hit-to-kill technology is designed to destroy threats upon contact using kinetic energy to mitigate the risk of collateral damage associated with traditional weapons that use explosives.
