Vivek Lall, vice president of strategy and business development at Lockheed Martin, told the Press Trust of India in an interview published Monday the company plans to establish a production line for F-16 fighter jets in India to support the country“™s Make in India program and help meet its operational requirements.
“We plan to introduce two new words into the lexicon of international fighter aircraft manufacturing: ‘India’ and ‘exclusive,“™“ Lall told the publication.
“F-16 production in India will be exclusive,“ he added.
He noted that Lockheed has introduced avionics and structural component upgrades to the U.S. Air Force“™s fleet of F-16s to prolong the aircraft“™s service life to 2045.
