Eric Webster: Harris Seeks to Address USAF Weather Imagery Requirements With Updated Sensor Tech - top government contractors - best government contracting eventEric Webster, vice president of business development at Harris‘ environmental solutions business, has said the U.S. Air Force looks to demonstrate a sensor technology for two weather satellite programs, SpaceNews reported Thursday.

SpaceNews quoted Webster as saying the company aims to help the service branch address theater weather imagery and cloud characterization missions with an updated version of the Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer.

The Air Force awarded Harris a $13 million contract five years ago to update AVHRR features, the report noted.

Webster said the latest AVHRR offering is based on space-based instruments the company has developed for government clients such as NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
