New Army Northeast Research Hub to Collaborate With Industry on Science, Tech Projects

The Army Research Laboratory has established a regional hub on the Northeastern University campus in Burlington, Massachusetts to conduct science and technology projects.

ARL Northeast is located at NU’s George J. Kostas Research Institute for Homeland Security and will collaborate with multiple companies and academic researchers in efforts to build homeland security and defense technologies for military personnel, the U.S. Army said Tuesday.

“This ecosystem will bring together all the partners who have access to each other’s people, institutions, facilities and eventually finances,” said ARL Director Philip Perconti.

General Dynamics, Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon and Rogers Corp. are among the companies that have pledged to support ARL Northeast.

The lab’s other regional partners include Draper Laboratory, MIT Lincoln Lab, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Defense Innovation Unit Experimental and private universities such as Harvard, Yale and Cornell.
