South Korea’s defense acquisition program administration plans to buy more than 10 anti-submarine helicopters via a competitive acquisition process that will be open to interested foreign bidders, Defense News reported Monday.
DAPA said it will kick off a solicitation next month and select a preferred bidder based on the cost and operational features of a manufacture’s helicopter offering.
The South Korean navy eyes Leonardo‘s AW159, Sikorsky’s MH-60R and NHIndustries’ NG-90 as potential helicopter platforms that may aid in maritime operations of the military service, the report noted.
DAPA also approved a $535 million program to buy Lockheed Martin-built Patriot Advanced Capability-3 missiles through the U.S. foreign military sales program.
