CAE said Friday it led the design and development of the Super Hercules FuT platform that features simulation software used in other C-130J training programs.
Airbus Australian Pacific produced the trainer hardware using two airframes from the country’s C-130H aircraft, while Lockheed provided spare parts and consulting services.
Ian Bell, vice president and general manager of Asia-Pacific and Middle East operations at CAE, said the project is an example of the Royal Australian Air Force’s push to invest in technology platforms that can help prepare aircrews for various missions.
Christopher Pyne, Australian minister for defence industry, said the C-130J FuT will work to help engineers and loadmasters create load-carrying methods for the military transport aircraft.
CAE will help maintain the system and will continue to support academic, simulator and live flight instructions at the RAAF Richmond base as part of the Management and Support of Australian Defense Force Aerospace Simulators program.
RAAF Richmond also uses a full-flight and mission simulator, desktop trainers and instructor tools from the company.
