Rick Yuse, president of Raytheon’s space and airborne systems business, told Breaking Defense in an interview posted Thursday the company’s approach to combat operations across land, air, space, sea and cyber domains homes in on “five critical technology enablers”.

He said multi-sensor data fusion; machine learning and artificial intelligence; open systems architecture; secure high-speed network; and resilient platforms are the five tech enablers designed to help the military meet the demands of the current threat environment.

Yuse noted that the U.S. military needs “a seismic shift in focus” in order to rapidly respond to multi-domain threats such as hypersonic weapons; intercontinental ballistic missiles; cyber and network threats; ground-based lasers designed to disrupt space use; and integrated air defenses.
