Science Applications International Corp. plans to hire up to 75 professionals in Richmond, Va., to support the Virginia Information Technologies Agency, Virginia Business reported Wednesday.

SAIC received a potential $165 million contract in September of last year to help VITA monitor and coordinate multiple IT infrastructure services providers to the state’s executive branch agencies.

New hires will work at the company’s James Center office in downtown Richmond.

Nazzic Keene, chief operating officer at SAIC, said that expanding business operations into the area would allow the firm’s state agency customers to receive additional support for critical missions.

Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam announced in May the the company would recruit approximately 40 IT service desk workers in Clinton, Dickenson County.
