Lockheed Martin CEO Marillyn Hewson said the company considers hypersonics as one of the “key providers of growth opportunities in the future“ and that its Skunk Works business will be a “vital incubator“ for the technology.

Tom Bussing, vice president for advanced missile systems at Raytheon, said the company has made an investment worth approximately $150M in hypersonic tech development work.

He also announced in July that Raytheon is in talks with DoD about a contract for a new tactical boost glide platform.
