Report: Defense Execs See Potential Business Opportunities in Hypersonics - top government contractors - best government contracting eventSome defense industry leaders have identified hypersonic weapons as a potential growth driver for their companies as the Defense Department boosts its spending on hypersonic-related development programs, National Defense reported Wednesday.

Lockheed Martin CEO Marillyn Hewson said the company considers hypersonics as one of the “key providers of growth opportunities in the future” and that its Skunk Works business will be a “vital incubator” for the technology.

Tom Bussing, vice president for advanced missile systems at Raytheon, said the company has made an investment worth approximately $150M in hypersonic tech development work.

He also announced in July that Raytheon is in talks with DoD about a contract for a new tactical boost glide platform.
