Dell Technologies‘ VMware subsidiary has agreed to buy a Dell EMC software suite designed to provide communication service providers with root cause analysis management and assurance tools as they launch services on existing and 5G networks.
VMware said Thursday it will integrate the Dell EMC Service Assurance Suite offering into its network functions virtualization portfolio for the telecommunications sector, Telco NFV, in an effort to help CSPs analyze and visualize their cloud, virtual, and physical environments and address network issues.
Dell EMC clients will continue to have access to the software suite through a reseller agreement between the two parties and can leverage the platform to facilitate the deployment of virtual network functions upon the deal’s closure.
“As carriers are readying for 5G, they are increasingly virtualizing edge and core networks with NFV,” said Shekar Ayyar, executive vice president for strategy and corporate development and general manager of VMware’s Telco NFV group.
“The Dell EMC Service Assurance Suite’s established software and services capabilities, combined with VMware’s trademark innovation, will empower CSPs to modernize and accelerate the transformation of their networks through NFV upon closing,” Ayyar added.
VMware will also incorporate Dell EMC Service Assurance Suite’s team of engineering professionals into its Telco NFV portfolio.
