Northrop Receives Milestone C Approval for Common Infrared Countermeasure System - top government contractors - best government contracting event

Northrop Grumman has obtained Milestone C approval for a technology designed to help the U.S. military counter advanced infrared missile attacks, which means the technology is ready for manufacture and deployment.

The Defense Department‘s Milestone Decision Authority cleared the Common Infrared Countermeasure system after Northrop and the U.S. Army assessed the performance of CIRCM in combat scenarios through various laboratory, flight and free flight missile tests, the company said Monday.

CIRCM is equipped with an open architecture and meant to protect aircraft from infrared guided missiles.

Northrop developed the system under a $35.4M engineering and manufacturing development contract awarded in 2015.
