AWS Briefing Paper Highlights Potential of Cloud Tech to Address Urban Challenges - top government contractors - best government contracting eventThe Amazon Web Services Institute has published a document that outlines the possible advantages of using cloud computing platforms and services to manage public services and infrastructure in urban locations.

AWS said Monday the 15-page briefing paper, titled “How Technology Helps Cities Become Sustainable and Inclusive,” informs city leaders about how they can utilize cloud technology to address urban development challenges as well as increase government productivity and transparency.

The strategic executive briefing also seeks to promote inclusivity as a core value in designing and running smart cities, in addition to livability, workability and sustainability as stated in a framework created by the Smart Cities Council.

Local leaders can use the cloud to protect their data while learning about underserved communities and marginalized groups such as the homeless and people struggling with opioid addiction, the document stated.

AWS Institute produced the report to also guide city governments in transportation, weather forecasting and public health initiatives, among other things.
