Leanne Caret, president and CEO of Boeing’s defense, space and security business, told Fortune magazine in a video interview aired Tuesday how threats to space assets could impact mobile devices and other systems that depend on GPS satellites.

She noted how space assets work to support “precision engagement” that service personnel use in combat and humanitarian missions and cited the importance of having discussions about “contested space.”

Caret mentioned the need for resilience to ensure continuity of operations amid threats to systems across ground, sea, air and space domains.

Resilience means having “ways in which maneuvers, techniques or alternate systems that are out there that can ensure continuity of operations, continuity of government,” she added.
