CGI has helped the U.S. Agency for International Development transition USDA’s information technology infrastructure to a hybrid cloud computing environment in an effort to comply with the White House’s Federal Cloud First Policy.
The company said Tuesday used its Unify360 suite of IT management tools and services to migrate more than 900 agency physical and virtual servers into the cloud.
USAID worked with CGI to implement application firewalls and a multi-tier architecture designed to protect networks through an edge filtering approach as well as detect or prevent intrusions.
The project used the company’s Client Partner Management Framework to prevent unplanned outage of the agency’s applications throughout the migration process.
“USAID recognized the challenge and cost expenditures associated with operating and maintaining physical data centers and demonstrated leadership in federal agency cloud adoption,” said Kenyon Wells, a CGI senior vice president.
