IBM Helps Marine Corps Develop AI-Powered Data Mgmt Tool - top government contractors - best government contracting eventIBM has developed an artificial intelligence-powered technology to help the U.S. Marine Corps manage data on personnel and equipment as part of combat preparedness efforts, Nextgov reported Thursday.

Matthew Dalkiewicz, manager of the Navy and Marine Corps account at IBM, said he expects the data management tool to aid the latter service branch in efforts to deploy active-duty Marines and military platforms worldwide.

The technology processes structured and unstructured data across multiple applications and seeks to help commanders visualize a unit’s readiness for battlefield missions.

IBM is also developing an AI system designed to prioritize course of action plans based on historical data and Dalkiewicz said the platform has potential to integrate with the force readiness tool.

The Marine Corps tested the company-made software through a pilot program that involved nearly 25 percent of the service’s total force structure.
