Executive Mosaic is pleased to announce that Jill Singer, vice president of national security at AT&T’s global public sector solutions unit, has been selected for the 2019 edition of the Wash100 — Executive Mosaic’s annual selection of the most influential voices in the government contracting arena — for her vision to improve the company’s position in artificial intelligence, big data and machine learning. This marks her fourth Wash100 win.

In an interview with ExecutiveBiz, Singer touted the factors that serve as the edge of AT&T’s public sector business over other companies in this age of big data and cloud computing. She mentioned connectivity and the company’s capabilities in artificial intelligence, machine learning and big data analytics as two factors.

“We’re using those same capabilities to support connected health, connected logistics, smart cities/bases/campuses and autonomous vehicles for our customers,” she said of data analytics. “Bottom line: we bring public sector companies and the intelligence and national security communities flexible, on-demand services.”

When asked about the most effective approach to forge partnerships with national security agencies, Singer said the company aims to start the conversation with clients on mission impact. “Understanding their challenges and bringing valid, qualified solutions to bear is critical to establishing working relationships. Our people have deep, genuine respect for the tough, difficult responsibilities our customers shoulder in keeping our nation safe and its people free,” she noted.

She called on federal chief information officers to implement network virtualization as they advance information technology modernization and build up their cybersecurity posture.

“In a virtualized network, agencies can quickly update architectures and services by a software change rather than purchasing and deploying new hardware,” she noted. “And a virtual network supports modern approaches to application development and cloud services to speed delivery of capabilities, including cybersecurity protections.”

Previously, Singer held leadership roles with IBM, GE Aerospace, Science Applications International Corp. and Deep Water Point. The four-time Wash100 winner also worked at federal agencies such as the State Department, the CIA and the National Reconnaissance Office.

Executive Mosaic congratulates Jill Singer and the AT&T government team for their selection to receive this award.
