Microsoft has updated its Outlook mobile architecture to help meet the government security and compliance requirements of Department of Defense and Office 365 US Government Community Cloud customers.

The Outlook mobile platform for iOS and Android phone users now uses a Microsoft sync technology to provide users access to S/MIME and other enterprise-grade functions and reduce latency, the company said in a blog post published Tuesday.

The company has also extended Enterprise Mobility and Security features for Outlook mobile to enable users to merge the updated platform with Azure Active Directory Conditional Access and Intune App Protection Policies to facilitate calendar and email data management on their mobile devices.

Microsoft announced that all government customers can now use the Outlook mobile platform, which is designed to advance collaboration and productivity by facilitating micro tasks.
