The Rockville, Md.-based company will assist in department efforts to collect data on children’s early learning and development, preschool care and education experiences, transition into kindergarten and progress through elementary grades, according to a FedBizOpps notice posted Friday.

The department intends to use the information to guide in policies for the 2022-2023 kindergarten class, as well as to look at the experiences of children attending school before and after the implementation of new federal laws and policies.

Westat’s work will be part of the fourth set of studies in the ECLS program that began in the 1998 school year.

The upcoming research effort aims to gather information directly from children, parents or guardians, teachers and school administrators.
