James Gordon, a former executive at Maximus‘ federal division and General Dynamics‘ information technology business, has been appointed president of Falls Church, Va.-based health information technology company Cognosante.

Michele Kang, founder and CEO of Cognosante, said in a statement Monday Gordon brings more than 25 years of government market experience to his new position and will oversee the firm’s day-to-day operations, strategic direction and growth initiatives.

Gordon led Maximus through its acquisition of federal civilian citizen engagement centers from General Dynamics Information Technology last year.

His more than 25-year corporate career included 11 years of service at GDIT, where he previously held the roles of vice president and general manager and led teams that supported federal customers.

Cognosante offers IT products and services to health programs at the federal, state and local levels.
