Ryan Hartman, former president and CEO of Boeing's Insitu subsidiary, has joined stratospheric technology developer World View as CEO.

He will oversee the World View's transformation efforts and succeeds Jane Poynter, who will remain a strategic adviser and member of its board of directors, the company said Thursday.

Hartman has more than two decades of unmanned flight systems and aerial remote sensing experience. He previously led the unmanned systems directorate at Raytheon's advanced programs division.

The U.S. Navy veteran currently serves on the board of the Northeast UAS Airspace Integration Research Alliance.

World View is headquarters in Tuczon, Ariz., and the developer of Stratollite, an unmanned flight vehicle designed to support remote sensing and communications in stratospheric exploration missions.
