A supersonic F-5 aircraft flew with a Garmin International-made integrated flight deck after almost six months of the equipment's engineering design and installation.

The event marks the maiden flight of Garmin's G3000 flight deck and dual touchscreen controllers, the company said Wednesday. Defense contractor Tactical Air Support conducted preparations for the flight.

G3000 features a high-resolution flight display that allows pilots and crews to manage and view mission functions including tactical radio, mapping and radar display.

The flight deck uses an open architecture to support integration between computers and sensors and accommodate future updates.

The Navy is scheduled to begin combat training with the G3000 system in the second quarter of 2019.
