William Mayville Jr., former vice commander of U.S. Cyber Command and a retired U.S. Army lieutenant general, has joined the cybersecurity practice of Korn Ferry.

Mayville brings extensive relationships and industry expertise across information technology, national security and professional services, Michael Franzino, president of financial services at Korn Ferry, said in a statement posted Wednesday.

“Bill has significant senior leadership experience commanding troops at every level including nearly five years of combat experience in Iraq and Afghanistan in a myriad of key leadership positions,” Franzino said. “It’s an honor to have him on board.”

At CYBERCOM, Mayville led the expansion of the combatant command along with a $230M research and acquisition program that aimed to enhance the country’s cyber capabilities for national security.

He was the director of operations for the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs and oversaw contingency planning for cybersecurity forces and operations to protect military activities worldwide.
