Akima’s Logistics Services unit has secured a potential seven-year, $68M contract to provide aircraft fuel and base supply services to the Air Force fleet that supports the U.S. president, vice president, cabinet officers and other congressional and military officials.
The company said Wednesday it will provide support services for 40 aircraft operating under the Very Important Person Special Air Mission led by the 11th Wing, the 89th Airlift Wing and the Presidential Airlift Group.
Akima Logistics Services will perform all management tasks and provide manpower, transportation and equipment for fuel and supply operations.
Contract work will take place at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland and other locations determined by the Air Force.
“It is an honor to continue to support the Air Force in the successful execution of one of their most visible and important missions,” said Shannon Carney, general manager of Akima Logistics Services.
Carney added the contract validates the company's ability to support critical missions of aviation clients.
Akima Logistics Services also provides aircraft support to training squadrons at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.
