The U.S. Army awarded Alion Science and Technology a three-year, $34M task order to help the service branch’s Ground Vehicle Systems Center create technology that will improve the combat and defense potential of manned and unmanned ground vehicles.

Alion said Tuesday it will also provide integration and sustainment services, and develop technology that will improve the military vehicles’ power and mobility, survivability and lethality, and operations capabilities.

Tim Lawrence, senior vice president for Alion, said the firm deploys its engineering staff within government teams as well as its technical development and subject matter experience to support Army ground vehicle projects.

He also noted that Alion has been providing assistance to the Army GVSC since 1999.
