The National Security Agency has certified a Cubic-built miniature encryption technology that works to secure classified information for air combat training systems.

Cubic said Monday its Engage end cryptographic unit was designated as KOV-135 under the NSA certification and previously received an interim approval to operate from the agency.

The technology completed more than 100 sorties in an operational environment as part of tests held last year at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada and Naval Air Station Patuxent River in Maryland.

Jonas Furukrona, vice president and general manager of air ranges at Cubic’s global defense business, said Engage is designed to help secure data transmission from P5 Combat Training System/Tactical Combat Training System pods.

The company is offering the encryptor to customers worldwide.
