General Atomics' aeronautical systems business and L3 Technologies have demonstrated a full-band signals intelligence technology developed for use on a medium-altitude long-endurance remotely piloted aircraft platform.

The MQ-9 Predator B RPA carried a pod with SIGINT tools during a test that took place last month in Yuma, Ariz., the companies said in a joint statement released Monday.

Both parties funded the development of the system in a push to help MQ-9 operators address modern threats in operationally unexplored domains.

Jeff Miller, president of L3's intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems business, said the partnership sought to provide "a new dimension for ISR employment of MQ-9 aircraft and provides expanded options for warfighters in the ISR domain.
