Working as Lockheed Martin’s navigation signal partner for the U.S. Air Force’s GPS III Follow On program, Harris has delivered a new navigation payload, which will enhance transmission power, for the military service’s new satellites.

Delivered as part of a $243M contract awarded in January, the company’s payload includes a Mission Data Unit designed to connect atomic clocks, radiation-hardened processors and transmitters as well as increase the satellite’s signal power, jamming resistance and lifespan, Harris said Tuesday.

Lockheed secured the prime contract to lead the satellite production in September.

The Air Force aims to deploy up to 22 GPS IIIF satellites into orbit.
