An Ultra Electronics subsidiary has received a Defense Security Service award that recognizes security practices at contractor facilities.

DSS selected Ultra Electronics USSI as one of the 51 James S. Cogswell Outstanding Industrial Security Achievement Award recipients this year, the company said Friday.

The agency reviewed efforts by more than 13K cleared contractors to comply with National Industrial Security Program standards and observe industry best practices to secure their processes.

"The Cogswell nominees go through a vigorous national vetting process that includes external examining and a national team review," said David Jost, president of Ultra Electronics USSI.

USSI supplies the U.S. Navy with sonobuoys manufactured from a facility in Columbia City, Ind.
