BEI Precision Systems and Space Company has delivered an encoder/motor assembly for an infrared imaging radiometer payload developed by Raytheon.
According to a company statement published Tuesday, the delivered assembly will serve as a component of Raytheon“™s Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite J4 payload.
“The delivery enables Raytheon to continue the buildout of this key instrument in the Joint Polar Satellite System, the nation’s next-generation, polar-orbiting operational environmental satellite system,“ said Ed Chung, VIIRS program manager at Raytheon.
He added that the payload will support weather prediction and a variety of industries including agriculture, transportation, energy and finance.
