Two executives of Booz Allen Hamilton and the Partnership for Public Service said that federal leaders should explore how modern technology such as artificial intelligence and edge computing platforms can help agencies deliver services and address operational challenges.

Dee Helfenstein, a Booz Allen executive vice president, PPS EVP Meroe Park wrote in a joint guest piece on Government Executive that government technology professionals should assist agency leaders in crafting a problem statement and a business case to adopt what Singularity University calls as “exponential technologies.”

“Laying the groundwork now, shaping an approach to get the most out of new exponential technologies and thinking about new acquisition strategies will be critical for our government to meet the needs of today as well as challenges of the future,” Park and Helfenstein noted.

They added that implementing a pilot program would help agencies test emerging technology applications and map a path forward on how to apply the tools.
