Maxar Technologies announced on Friday that Carolyn Pittman, a former executive of Northrop Grumman and Huntington Ingalls Industries’ Newport News Shipbuilding division, has been appointed senior vice president and chief accounting officer for Maxar. Her appointment is effective Aug. 7.

“I am extraordinarily pleased to welcome Carolyn Pittman to the Maxar leadership team,” said Biggs Porter, chief financial officer of Maxar. “Carolyn has a wealth of public company experience, a deep understanding of government contract finance and accounting and a track record of implementing best-in-class internal controls.”

Pittman joins Maxar after she served as Northrop and its spin-off company, Huntington Ingalls, in various senior financial leadership positions. She previously worked in public accounting at Ernst & Young for a decade. In addition, Pittman serves on the board of directors for Minerals Technologies.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting/data processing from University of Arkansas and an MBA in finance from Dallas Baptist University. Pittman is also a certified public accountant and information systems auditor.
