Boeing's Millenium Space Systems subsidiary conducted environmental tests for an early warning satellite used by the U.S. Air Force's Space and Missile Systems Center.

The Wide Field of View geosynchronous satellite underwent sound tests to simulate liftoff and ascent sequences and expose the platform to varying temperature levels within a thermal-vacuum chamber, Millenium Space Systems said Monday.

WFOV will work to transmit mission and risk reduction data to the Air Force Space Command and assist in overhead persistent infrared missions. The satellite is also slated to carry an OPIR six-degree staring sensor from L3 Harris Technologies.

“Now that we've successfully completed all primary phases of the environmental test campaign, we're looking forward to buttoning up the satellite and getting it on orbit as soon as possible,“ said Maj. Brian Curd, chief of OPIR advanced payloads and demonstrations at Air Force Space Command.
