Aerojet Rocketdyne has landed an $18.9M contract from the Missile Defense Agency to mature analytical tools and component technologies for an axial upper stage platform.
Efforts under the contract are intended to test material, component and architectural approaches as well as mitigate potential risks in the development of hypersonic defense technologies, the company said Wednesday.
Eileen Drake, president and CEO at Aerojet Rocketdyne, noted the company has been building and designing propulsion systems and axial rocket motors in support of U.S. Army, Navy and MDA initiatives for the last 25 years.
“Our leadership in both solid and liquid propulsion, along with a disciplined systems engineering approach make Aerojet Rocketdyne a great choice for maturing advanced hypersonic defense technology,†added Drake.
