Cray, a business within Hewlett Packard Enterprise, has announced a new system that adds the storage capacity of supercomputers.

The ClusterStor E1000 system works to balance the performance, scalability, efficiency and accessibility of data to prevent congestion, Cray said Wednesday.

The Department of Energy is employing the storage system in exascale supercomputers at Oak Ridge and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories as well as Argonne Leadership Computing Facility. The National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center also agreed to adopt ClusterStor E1000.

Peter Ungaro, president and CEO at Cray, said the storage system addresses the growth of data in the exascale era with an approach that coordinates data flow with workflow.
