Lockheed Martin is investing in spare parts and working to address issues in the coating of the F-35 stealth aircraft, Flight Global reported Wednesday.

Steve Sheehy, director of F-35 sustainment strategies and campaigns at Lockheed, told attendees at an international aerospace and defense exhibition in South Korea that the firm is allocating $2M for spares to speed up operations once an F-35 arrives in 2020.

He noted that this will simplify previous procedures, which involve awarding contracts for aircraft before issuing awards for spare parts.

In addition, Sheehy said he expects “a lot of potential markets” in nations seeking to recapitalize fourth-generation aircraft through 2030.
