NASA Seeks Spacesuit Production Info For 2024 Moon Mission

NASA is looking for information on potential sources of capabilities to support a new spacesuit intended to be worn by astronauts on the moon as part of the Artemis mission in 2024.

A FedBizOpps notice posted Friday states that industry feedback will help NASA determine acquisition procedures for the Exploration Extravehicular Activity production and services contract.

The responses will also inform NASA’s plans to transition xEVA hardware manufacturing and sustainment activities to industry for future flight and training activities.

According to the request for information, NASA is working with industry and the academe in efforts to design and develop the Extravehicular Mobility Unit, which will have portable life support, pressure garment and informatics subsystems.

NASA expects to issue a contract as early as fiscal 2020 ahead of initial flight demonstrations to the International Space Station on 2023.

Interested parties may submit responses through Nov. 4.
