HII CEO Mike Petters Receives 2019 Vice Admiral Emory S. “Jerry” Land Medal

Mike Petters, president and CEO at Huntington Ingalls Industries and a former Wash100 winner, has been honored by the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers in validation of his contributions to the marine industry.

Petters received the 2019 Vice Admiral Emory S. “Jerry” Land Medal during the yearly SNAME Banquet event in Tacoma, Wash., the company said Tuesday.

He launched the HII Scholarship Fund in 2016 to assist the employees’ children in securing technical, pre-k school or post-secondary degrees. Petters and his wife Nancy also supported the College of William and Mary’s Camp Launch program, an initiative that seeks to provide opportunities and seventh and eighth-grade students.

“It is a true honor to be recognized by the distinguished members of this society who have shown such dedication to the advancement of our industry,” said Petters.
