Mitre has partnered with the Florida International University to conduct research, development and talent building efforts that will help achieve machine learning, workforce, cybersecurity, social media and artificial intelligence objectives.

The partnership aims to reinforce economic development in South Florida and hone talent development at FIU, the company said Thursday.

Elizabeth Bejar, senior vice president of academic and student affairs at FIU, said the agreement might include internships, micro-credentialing and apprenticeship programs.

“FIU’s vision in creating new programs such as the Internet of Things [IoT] degree, and our ability to leverage the university’s talent on national priorities is just one example of how we can build the future together and enhance global competitiveness,” said Jason Providakes, president and CEO at Mitre and a 2019 Wash100 winner.
