USAF Taps Lunar Resources, Rhea Space Activity for In-Space Supply Chain Model

Lunar Resources and Rhea Space Activity have received the U.S. Air Force’s approval and funds to further develop an existing space deployment concept for the service branch.

RSA said Thursday it is working with Lunar Resources on a supply chain architecture model for the military’s in-space production of national security assets, under the IN-SILICO project.

The effort aims to boost the in-orbit communication and reconnaissance performance of the U.S. military and drive down deployment costs.

“Lunar Resources is very grateful to have the support of the Air Force, which has the unique, rarified experience and expertise we need to quickly demonstrate and deploy our technology enabling in-space manufacturing and on-orbit repair of DoD space assets,” said Elliot Carol, CEO at Lunar Resources.

USAF funds the project under the service’s Small Business Innovation Research program, and will feature IN-SILICO at the upcoming Space Pitch Day next Tuesday to Thursday in San Francisco.
