SpaceX Announces Milestone With Crew Dragon ‘Mark 3’ Parachute System - top government contractors - best government contracting event

SpaceX performed the 10th consecutive test of its Mark 3 parachute design for the Crew Dragon spacecraft, SpaceNews reported Tuesday.

The company said the latest multiparachute test moves it “one step closer to safely launching and landing NASA astronauts.”

SpaceX subjected the Mark 3 parachute system to a series of 12 single-parachute tests in October. The company transitioned to the new parachute design in the fall after it encountered problems with the Mark 2 system.

The 10th multiparachute test comes as the company prepares for the planned manned Demo-2 test flight of its Crew Dragon. NASA astronauts Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken will be on board Demo-2.
