Lockheed to Support Hypersonics Program Under DARPA Contract - top government contractors - best government contracting event

Lockheed Martin’s missiles and fire control business has landed a $31.9M contract to support the third phase of a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency initiative intended to develop a mobile ground-launched tactical weapon delivery system that can hold various payload types.

Contract work is slated to run through January 2021 and will occur in various locations within the U.S., the Department of Defense said Friday.

DARPA obligated $12.9M from fiscal years 2019 and 2020 research and development funds for the contract.

DARPA established the Operational Fires Integrated Weapon System program to build and showcase a ground-launched platform that will field hypersonic boost-glide weapons to destroy time-sensitive targets and pierce through enemy air defenses.
